Fly The Friendly Skies

Hey there, crime kids. Happy Hump Day. It's time once again to take a trip to the dark side, where your most violent fantasies become sins of the flesh, right here, where the hardboiled action is non-stop, at the coolest crime joint in cyberspace ... at That Killing Feeling.

In Chapter 43 of SPIRAL, adult film star Savannah's former stylist Dex, now cut loose and adrift, has a complete nervous breakdown and is left a shadow of his former self ...

INT. BANK OF AMERICA - DAY
Over the action,
spooky 80's "new wave" music,
something like Soft Cell
or Depeche Mode.

The action is wordless,
like a silent movie.

It's noon.
The bank is swamped
with people on their lunch break.
Long lines at every window.

A disheveled-looking Dex
stands near the head of the line
waiting for a teller.

He holds a scrap of paper
in his hand and
MUMBLES under his breath.

A YOUNG MAN standing behind him
in line stares at Dex
and says something to him.

Dex turns around and YELLS,
then PUSHES him.

People STARE.
Dex approaches the TELLER
and hands her his note.

The teller reads it,
then shakes her head
"I'm sorry."

Dex just smiles and nods.
The teller repeats her question.

Dex SHOUTS no!
He BANGS on the plastic
booth protector.

The Teller beckons to someone.

CLOSEUP OF SECURITY GUARD
A large, beefy security guard NODS.
The CAMERA follows him across
the floor as another GUARD joins him.

They RUN over to Dex,
who is now BANGING his head
on the plastic window,
now smeared with blood.

INT. AMBULANCE - DAY
Dex lies in a straightjacket,
restrained on a gurney.

Two stone-faced EMS TECHNICIANS
sit on either side.

INT. ANDY'S CAR - DAY
SUPER - One Month Later

Andy drives down the freeway.
Dex is lost in space
staring out the window.

The car stereo plays prettyeuro-pop
like Erasure or the Pet Shop Boys.

ANDY
What time's your flight?

DEX
It's okay, we've got time.

ANDY
What airline you on?

Dex pulls a weather-beaten
ticket out of his pocket.
Examines it.

DEX
Pan Am.

ANDY
Pan Am?
They've been out of business
for years. Let me see it.

Dex hands it over.
Andy looks at it.

DEX
I ordered the vegetarian meal.

Andy looks at the ticket,
then at Dex, who smiles.

ANDY
You're right,
we've got plenty of time --
